L.A. based singer-songwriter Kacey Johansing releases her third album, The Hiding, today.
Her modern take on timeless country-folk-pop (think: Fleetwood Mac, Joni Mitchell) is illuminating and reminiscent of similar minded artists of a decade’s vintage like The Jayhawks, Mojave 3 and The Thrills.
The opening “Bow and Arrow” is a shimmering breezy tune which raises expectations of the joys to come. And the likes of the jazz-inflected “Hold Steady”, the effervescent “Do You Want Me” and the bluesy “Power of Love” deliver well on that promise.
Beautifully crafted and passionately executed.
